Wicked Ride (Realm Enforcers Book 1) by Rebecca Zanetti

About the Book:

This is the first book in Rebecca’s Realm Enforcers Series. If you like paranormal romance, then definitely pick up this book.

“Alexandra Monzelle is a hard-fighting, heat-packing Seattle vice cop, and she’s not much interested in being protected. Her short skirt and sex-kitten heels are tools to lure her suspects into talking about the deadly new drug hitting the streets. She can take care of herself and then some. Unfortunately, she can’t seem to get that through to Kellach Dunne.

Kellach is a fresh import from Dublin, and he’s landed at the heart of a vicious motorcycle club that deals in guns, narcotics, and mayhem. He’s all male, all rough power—and all interference in her damn investigation. Maybe he’s one of the good guys. Maybe not. Lex knows an affair with an immortal like him would risk everything. No matter how delicious he looks…”

 My Five Star Review:

This series is going to be amazing!!!!! I was lucky enough to receive an advanced reader copy.  Wicked Ride will be released on June 23, 2015.

This was an amazing first book in the spin off series Dark Protectors by Rebecca. The writing is spectacular, the story is well defined and the characters of course keep you engaged the entire book. I would recommend reading the Dark Protector series before you read this one.  Many of your favorites from that series show up in this one.  The King Dage, Garrett (Talen’s son), Garrett’s friend Logan (Zane’s brother) and even a visit from a Mother.  Also, there is background information in the DP series that would be very helpful to know when reading this one.

Wicked Ride is Kellach and Alexandra’s story. We first meet Kell, a witch, in the Dark Protector series. He is an enforcer and protector of the Coven Nine (as you can probable guess they are a coven of witches). He is sent to Seattle on a case and runs right into little human warrior Cop Alexandra. They butt heads quite a bit, in this action packed book and of course fall for each other.

In true Rebecca style, she leaves you with wanting more story and more characters at the end of this book. I very much look forward to the next book in this series Wicked Edge releasing on November 10, 2015.

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

About the Book:

This is a Contemporary Romance written in the first person.

“When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she doesn’t think it’s love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.
Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.”

My Four Star Review:

I’m not a big fan of first person writing because I always feel like I’m missing out on the other characters point of view but Colleen is definitely changing my mind.  There are two main characters, Tate and Miles, and each alternating chapter is written from their point of view.  This book has intrigue, suspense and a few tears to go along with it.  At one point I wanted to smack Miles in the head but in the next second you just want to pull him into your arms and hug him.  To me, this book is Miles emotional, tortured journey and you just know it has to end with something amazing.

At the very beginning of the book Tate arrives at her brother’s apartment to find a very drunk man sitting in front of the door.  When Tate’s brother Corbin (also a pilot) says, “I kind of need you to do me a huge favor.” I was hooked and could not put the book down. Like many of Colleen’s books, the characters are in their early to middle 20’s and experiencing the “struggles” associated with life. This book is a fast easy read and definitely worth your time.

If you are a book movie person, you will be happy to know Ugly Love the Movie will be coming out in 2016.  Link to Movie teaser is below.

Marshal of Hel Dorado (Fevered Hearts) by Heather Long

About the Book:

This is the first book in Heather’s Fevered Hearts series.  To me it’s a Historical Western Romance with a little paranormal thrown in.

“In the shadows of the Old West, that untamed land, live bands of outlaws and outsiders. In a time when fevers could fell whole towns, these few survivors are marked. Marked…and forever changed.
Sam Kane is the oldest brother, the steadfast son and the confident marshal. He’s never met a problem too hot to handle until a gang behind a string of robberies across the territory set their sights on his town. Now with the bank’s gold inexplicably missing from a locked safe, the town hunting the elusive thieves and a passionate redhead with a fiery secret in his jail, Sam has his hands full.
Scarlett Morning Star lived in seclusion in the mountains of West Texas most of her life. She longs for adventure, but with seven very protective older brothers, adventure is hard to come by. When she tags along uninvited on their latest escapade, she is left behind during a bank robbery and finds herself in the custody of the very sexy town marshal.
The town wants to lynch her, the Marshal wants answers and her brothers want her back, can Scarlett keep it together or will her explosive secret burn them all?
Her life. His badge. Their fight.”

My Five Star Review:

From the very first chapter, I was drawn in hook, line and sinker.  Marshal Sam Kane is a take-charge don’t-mess-with-my-town kind of guy but then in walks, or I should say rides, fiery red haired Scarlett Morning Star.  The story around these two main characters and several secondary characters is brilliant, creative, emotional and adventurous.  It amazes me how an author’s mind can create such an engaging world.   As with a typical romance novel, there is a happily ever after but it’s not without some serious twists, turns and secrets.  This is the kind of book you can’t put down.  Each turn of the page makes you want to read faster so you can find out what’s around the next corner.

You MUST read this series in order.  Each book “ends” (and it’s in quotes because it doesn’t really end) for the main couple but the story keeps on moving forward throughout each book.  Main characters and secondary characters make a wonderful reappearance and new characters are introduced.  Take my word for it, you will ABSOLUTELY love this series!!!

Reading order:

Marshal of Hel Dorado (Book 1)

Brave are the Lonely (Book 2)

Micah and Mr. Miller (Book 3)

A Fistful of Dreams (Book 4)

Raising Kane (Book 5)

Wanted Fevered or Alive (Book 6)

Wild and Fevered (Book 6.5)

The Quick and the Fevered (Book 7)

Book 8 – Coming Soon.

The Edge of Never/Always by J.A Redmerski

About the Book:

This is a New Adult book, written in first person, intended for readers 17+.  It has a beautiful sex scene and some language that may not be appropriate for children under 17.  (This is per the author.) This is also the first book in a two book series.  You might as well just pick up The Edge of Always when you get this one.  You’re definitely going to want to see how it ends.

“Twenty-year-old Camryn Bennett had always been one to think out-of-the-box, who knew she wanted something more in life than following the same repetitive patterns and growing old with the same repetitive life story. And she thought that her life was going in the right direction until everything fell apart.
Determined not to dwell on the negative and push forward, Camryn is set to move in with her best friend and plans to start a new job. But after an unexpected night at the hottest club in downtown North Carolina, she makes the ultimate decision to leave the only life she’s ever known, far behind.
With a purse, a cell phone and a small bag with a few necessities, Camryn, with absolutely no direction or purpose boards a Greyhound bus alone and sets out to find herself. What she finds is a guy named Andrew Parrish, someone not so very different from her and who harbors his own dark secrets. But Camryn swore never to let down her walls again. And she vowed never to fall in love.
But with Andrew, Camryn finds herself doing a lot of things she never thought she’d do. He shows her what it’s really like to live out-of-the-box and to give in to her deepest, darkest desires. On their sporadic road-trip he becomes the center of her exciting and daring new life, pulling love and lust and emotion out of her in ways she never imagined possible. But will Andrew’s dark secret push them inseparably together, or tear them completely apart?”

My Five Star Review:

This was a full length book but a very easy and fast read.  Camryn drew me in from the very beginning and as soon as I met Andrew, I was completely hooked.  It was one of those books I could not put down and completely ignored my kids forcing them to fend for themselves.  The description above pretty much gives you the idea of the story and I don’t want to give out any spoilers but I will say these two kids go on an adventure I believe “saved” them both.

We all have a time in our lives where we have no idea what we want, who we want to be or even how to get what we want or deal with the struggles in our lives.  These two characters went on an emotional journey and come out the other end stronger than ever and completely in love.  They’re two souls absolutely meant to be together.  I hope you enjoy their journey as much as I did.  Don’t forget to pick up the book The Edge of Always to read the end of their story.

High Risk Fever by Lea Bronsen

About the Book:

This is a smoking hot romance (for mature audiences only) and I’m talking you-will-need-ice-water during and after.  If this is not your kind of book, no problem, but if it is be sure to pick this one up.

“Two young and indecently handsome bicyclists visit a village in the French Alps during the summer holidays. Forced by a raging storm to spend the night at the local bed & breakfast, they invade the quiet lives of hostess Anne and her husband, Brian.  A power outage plunges the foursome into darkness, encouraging new liaisons to form, life-long secrets to be unveiled, and steamy lessons to be learned. But once the storm moves on, can the four find a balance and resume their normal lives?”

My Five Star Review:

High Risk Fever gets five stars for the steaminess alone.   This was the third book I’ve read by Lea. I’ve been wanting to give her a five star review and this was the book that did it for me. In my opinion, this is the best book she has written.  There was suspense, the characters were well developed, her descriptions where amazing and the writing keep me engaged all the way through.

I love when a story is told so well you can actually see it all, in detail, in your mind.  If you love a good HOT romance, a good story, and you don’t care if the couple is male and female or male and male, then definitely pick up this book.

What Could Have by DC Stone

About the Book:

“Lucas and Annabelle met in a passing moment of time when you think about it; however, if you ask either of them, it was a moment they would never forget.  Brought together by a common goal, the two were deemed inseparable until fate and duty pushed them to opposite sides of the world.  Now, years later, lives restructured, Lucas and Annabelle find their paths crossing once again.  Will old sparks flame up again and what will happen when Lucas and Annabelle have others they have promised themselves to?”

My FIVE Star Review:

If you like a great military romance with some emotional twists and turns, then definitely pick up this book.  This is a stand-alone, independently published book by DC.

Living on opposite ends of the county, Lucas (22) and Anna (19) decided to enlist in the Air Force.  They met, immediately a strong friendship grew during their weeks of training, but orders were given, decisions were made and the course of their lives changed. Ten years later they met again, sparks fly between them, but their lives were on different paths. What decisions will they make this time?

What Could Have was an emotional journey with these two characters that I will NOT forget.

We all make important decisions in our lives, some of them turn out great, some of them fall apart and some we wish we never made, but isn’t that all part of life.  Never regret a decision you’ve made!  Learn from them, they re-shape you and sometimes even make you a better person.

The Summer Remains by Seth King

About the Book:

This is a New Adult/Coming of Age story with both main characters in their middle 20’s.  The story is loosely based on the authors brother Martin who passed away during a surgery.

“Twenty-four-year-old Summer Johnson knows two things. The first is that due to a quickly worsening medical condition, she faces a risky surgery in three months’ time that may or may not end in her death. The second is that she would like to fall in love before then.

As spring sinks into her namesake season on the Florida coastline, Summer plays the odds and downloads a new dating app – and after one intriguing message from a beautiful surfer named Cooper Nichols, it becomes clear that the story of what may be her last few months under the sun is about to be completely revised. All she has to do now is write something worth reading.

Tender, honest, devastating and triumphant, The Summer Remains explores a very human battle being waged in a very digital age: the search for a love that will outlast this temporary borrowing of bones. In an era when many feel compelled to share and re-share anything about everything, prepare to feel a love so special, you will want to hug it close and make it yours forever.”

My Five Star Review:

I’m not exactly sure how I stumbled across this book or Seth King but I am forever changed.  Real, true emotions were leaking out of every sentence he wrote and some of those sentences were 20 miles long.  But isn’t that how we feel sometimes when our emotions are stuck inside of us trying to get out and when they finally do, it’s a long drawn out exhale.  I read this book in one sitting because I could NOT put it down.  I will admit, it started a bit slow for me.   I don’t usually read rip-your-heart-out, use-an-entire-box-of-tissues kind of books but once I started learning about these two young people, I was hooked.   Part 2, of the book titled, Cooper Rising just about killed me. It was extremely hard to read through all the tears running down my face. All I wanted to do was jump into the book, grab Cooper, and hold him forever.  These two characters, Summer and Cooper, in my eyes, saved each other and fell so deeply in love it was amazing to read.  One of my favorite things about the book was all the song lyrics, which Seth King wrote himself, and the individual quotes from the lyrics throughout the book.

Anyone who really knows me knows, I try to stay away from the really emotional books, which is why it took me forever to read, The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. And the only reason I did was because my 14 year old daughter, Katie, begged me to. The Summer Remains was an emotional roller coaster as well but it was NOT a book about Cancer. *winks at Summer* I think I need to turn the tables on my daughter and beg her to read this book.

I would highly recommend this book and I look forward to reading more by Seth King.

I leave you with one last thought and my favorite quote from Cooper:

“Life is brief but love is long. Somewhere between anger and love is an ocean of eternal tranquility. It is there that I will see you again.”

Thank you Cooper and Thank YOU, Seth.
